Native American Underware

I was just given a rescue Disney doll that looks like she would make a great Native American doll for Singing Bird. I have ordered her a new wig and Native American outfit. My question is what type of underwear does Kaya come with or what would a Native American girl in Kirsten's time period wear?

Kaya has no undergarments.

Did you watch Oprah on Colonial House the other day? They didn't wear undergarments either.

Indians often didn't wear any clothes at all, lol.

In Lissie's time, and up until about 1840, only "bad women" wore underwear.

I did see Oprah and this made me think about Singing Bird and Kaya. I may have to not keep that part of this doll in the correct historical dress, she will be more modern and wear some undies.

our little Alaskan Native has undies. Just because it is more appropriate for Marina. She loves the camisol and brief set.

Most male Native Americans wore breechclouts. It's just a band around the waist with a cloth that laps over the back, goes under the "underneaths" and then goes up and over the band in the front. If you made it from pseudo suede it would be soft and comfortable and you could fringe the ends. Sort of halfway between nothing and modern?

I thought about the breechclouts and wondered if females may have worn them also. I will make Singing Bird one. The poor thing is sitting in the living room naked right now. I have cleaned her and I am waiting for her new wig and outfit to arrive. I brushed her old hair and braided it but it is so thin that the braids do look right. I did make her a name necklace. She could at least have on her undies while she waits.I did not want to cut and shave her head until the wig arrived. I have 37 wigs and not one of them would work for a Native American girl!
